Europe Bike Tours - September 2018 - from Terry Herron
Hotel Deadline December 31

europe flyer

We have attached a complete description for two different Europe Bike Tours in September 2018. There are a few reasons for this early planning alert:

(1) Hotel Availability is extremely limited during the September-October peak season in Europe for biking.

(2) These two September Bike Tours are made available in the USA only to KABC and the Sun City Club for booking, and only through the end of this month of December. There is a short window to make your decision and secure a spot. You can sign up after January 1st, but hotel rooms may or may not be available.

(3) Available Hotel Rooms will only be held until the end of this Month. After that, any remaining slots (if any) will be put on the Internet for the general public.

(4) We are limited to only 20 people for each Tour

(5) The first week (September 14th) from London to Amsterdam is a Guided Tour, and already has 12 people booked.

Please look closely at the attached Information Letter, and please also go online to BikeTours.com to read about both Tours. Feel free to call Terry Herron 843-271-9919 or Ed & Sue Brett (Sun City) 843-705-2239 If you decide to book a Tour, please alert Terry & Ed by email.

Participants must be a C+ rider or higher, with the ability to ride 7 days in a row.

We ask that you study the attachment and go online … before you call with questions. Come join us for one or both of these exciting Tours. The Tour prices are relatively low, and represent excellent Value overall.

KABC organizes and promotes safe group bicycle rides and holds social activities for our cyclists.

We were founded in September, 2006 and now have more than 180 members. We are a non-profit bicycle touring club open to cycling enthusiasts in and around Southern Beaufort County, South Carolina.

We are affiliated with the League of American Bicyclist and Palmetto Cycling Coalition of South Carolina.

Hilton Head Island has been recognized as one of the top 25 bicycle-friendly communities in the United States and one of 21 to achieve “Gold-Level” status for its commitment to being a bicycle friendly community. The Bicycle Friendly Community award was announced on June 10, 2015 by the League of American Bicyclists.

The Town of Hilton Head Island is the only Gold-Level community in the Southeast and only one of two on the East Coast, according to the League's list of award recipients.

We currently ride most Saturday mornings, starting at different locations around Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beaufort. Rides usually range between 15 and 40 miles and average 12-18 mph, depending on the Ride Classification level.

Safety First! Fitness, Fun and Food to Follow...

We require helmets to be worn on all rides, we encourage brightly colored clothing and remember your water bottle!

We usually meet for lunch at a local restaurant following our rides. Come out and ride with us once before you decide to join our club. See you soon!

hhi gold awardThe League of American Bicyclists announced that Hilton Head Island had been designated as a Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) at the Gold level by the League of American Bicyclists, up from the silver level received four years ago. We are the only community in South Carolina and the entire Southeast to reach the Gold level, and one of only 21 nationwide.

This is a major accomplishment and we're honored to be part of such a community.

Bicycle Ambassadors Needed!

The Hilton Head Island Bicycle Advisory Committee is seeking individuals to help foster a welcoming environment and enhance safety on Hilton Head Island bike paths. Volunteer bike ambassadors provide directions, maps, safety tips and flyers to visiting cyclists.  Bike Ambassador volunteers will work primarily during the busy summer season from May 28 to August 6.

Volunteers should attend one of the 2-hour training sessions to be held on Wednesday, May 10, and Monday, June 5, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Fire Station #6 at the entrance to Palmetto Dunes.

Contact Carmin Oliver at vicepresident@kickinasphalt.info for information or to volunteer.
